Münster Projekt : deutsch

    • Stümpfe and Small Stümpfe (perforated),

    • Stadtbibliothek, Münster

Photo-objects / montages, offset printed and glue-bound (one side), feature life-scaled photographic images without text. The photographs, scaled 1:1, determine the shapes of the paper objects. Seemingly stationary, stout and mute forms, give rise to a nomadic circulation.

Each sculpture invites interaction. People tear off sheets--and did so by the hundreds. The object’s size diminishes in proportion to the number of pages or leaves torn from its binding. Thus, in time, the objects disappear but their ‘life’ (existence) continues, albeit unpredictably, as new montage.

Stümpfe, both small and large, were placed throughout the library, on desks, near computers and in relation to other furnishings.

Stümpfe: topside, image of a ‘skid’ or wooden base used for shipping goods; bottom side, an image of a cut tree section.

Small Stümpfe (perforated): topside image of cut section of tree showing a small, connected branch.
