Coaches Bio: Coach Germano - Varsity Men's Soccer
Coach Germano accepted the Head Varsity Men’s Soccer position at Millbrook High School in April 2020. He has taught at Millbrook High School since the spring of 2019 in Grandpoint/Special Education.
Prior to Millbrook, Coach Germano was the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Adjunct Health/PE Instructor at NCAA DII University of Mount Olive, NC from 2013 to 2017. In his final season of coaching at UMO, he led the Men’s team to the conference tournament finals and helped produce the programs first ever 2nd team All-American. In 2015 he helped lead the program to its best regular season finish in 10 years, the programs 1st ever National Player of the week, and to the conference final four. His 2014 season marked the 1st time in UMO Soccer history to beat two nationally ranked opponents in a single season and the programs 1st ever top 25 NSCAA DII National ranking.
Coach Germano moved from New York State in 2010 and began Teaching Health and PE and Coaching Varsity Men’s and Women’s Soccer at Franklinton High School, NC until 2012. While at FHS, his Men’s team won the Northern Carolina’s Conference 1st place in 2011 and 2nd place in 2012. His Women’s team achieved a 20-2-2 record and 2nd place and also earned the NSCAA Adidas Team Academic Award in 2011; 3rd place in 2012.
From 2011 to 2018, Germano coached for CASL (now NCFC) boys U16-U18 which and was one of three clubs in the U.S with both boys and girl’s programs ranked in the national top 10. The last NFCF team that he coached; 01 White, went undefeated in the regular season and lost only 1 game in the NC Kepner Cup Quarterfinals. During this time, he also coached for the NC Youth Soccer Associations (NCYSA) Olympic Development Program (ODP) boy’s U12-13 Eastern Region III. With ODP, his role was to help identify and develop youth players for potential State, Regional, and National Team selection. In 2007, Coach Germano had the honor of student-teaching abroad in Queensland Australia. He assisted the boys Varsity team during this experience and they won their conference without a loss.
As a college student-athlete, Coach Germano played his Junior and Senior years at DIII State University of New York at Cortland. During his Senior year, he played Semi-Pro within the Professional Development League's (PDL) Albany Admirals. While at SUNY Cortland, he earned Academic All-American honors and 1st team all-conference. During his Freshman and Sophomore years of college, Germano played for Herkimer County Community College. There he played in two NJCAA National Championships, 3rd place 2003 and 2nd place 2004. He was also inducted into the Who’s Who of American Junior Colleges, earned Academic All-American honors, 1st team all-conference as a freshman and 1st team All-Region as a Sophomore.
Coach Germano also has a love for strength & conditioning. He served as Student Strength and Conditioning Coach during graduate school at Syracuse University. From 2008 to 2010, he worked with NCAA DI athletics teams such as Men’s Basketball, Football, Cheerleading, and Men’s Soccer. He also completed a Graduate Internship in Phoenix Arizona at “Athletes Performance.” At A.P, he assisted with the fitness, injury rehab, agility, and strength training of professional athletes within the NFL, NHL, NBA, as well Olympians and U.S Special Forces Operatives
Coach Germano holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University in Exercise Science and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education form SUNY Cortland. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) D Coaching License and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National Coaches Diploma. He obtained his National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) License in 2007.
Coaches Bio: Coach Woodburn - JV Men's Soccer
Coach Woodburn accepted the Head JV Men’s Soccer Position at Millbrook High School in November 2020.
Prior to joining the Millbrook coaching staff Coach Woodburn was the Assistant Coach to both Men's Varsity and JV Soccer at Franklinton High School, NC from 2019 to 2017. During Coach Woodburn's time at FHS he helped lead the team to 3 straight State Playoff appearances, a 2nd and 3rd place finish in conference while also making back to back conference tournament final appearances. With an overall record of 53-20-3.
Coach Woodburn played the center back and forward position for William Peace University (WPU), during his junior and senior year. Prior to WPU he attended Coker College in South Carolina where he played center back his Freshman and Sophomore year. He was also member of the astronomy and debate club at Coker College.
Coach Woodburn attended Franklinton High School, Franklinton, NC where he played varsity soccer all four years and in 2014 the team was Northern Carolina 2A Conference Champions with an overall record of 21-3-1. He was Northern Carolina Conference (NCC) All Academic Soccer Player for four years and a member of the Honor Society. In addition, he was NCC All Conference Soccer Player and NCC All Conference Honorable Mention Soccer Player, and NCC 2-A All Region Honorable Mention Soccer Player. In addition, Coach Woodburn was co-captain of the soccer team his senior year, received the Franklinton High School Soccer Coaches Award and Most Valuable Player Soccer Award. While playing soccer at Franklinton High School he was the kicker and punter for the varsity football team his junior and senior year and wrestled his freshman year.
While playing high school soccer and playing high school football Coach Woodburn played soccer of Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) U96 White team in 2014 and received the CASL Hamilton Leadership Award in 2014; CASL U96 United in 2013 and East Wake Soccer Alliance U96 in 2011 and 2012.
Coach Woodburn earned a degree in Pre-Law from William Peace University in the Spring of 2020. He currently works for Dorsey Lawn Care and Publix Grocery store.
