February Meeting

We had a great turn out for the February meeting with 12 in attendance including 2 more newcomers to the group. We began as planned with the stouts and porters including an oatmeal coffee stout brewed by Brian and Dave and a stout with vanilla beans soaked in Jameson brewed by Paul. Aside from those we had a nice variety of homebrews to sample including a black lager, wheat IPA, Simcoe IPA, red rye IPA, an amber ale, a rye saison, an irish red and a weizenbock. Many thanks go to Chris and his very tolerant wife for hosting our meeting.

We also thank Dana of Firefly Hollow Brewing Company for helping us acquire an off-flavor kit. As of now, the plan is to break up the kit into 3 sessions. We would like to take full advantage of this kit which can serve up to 20 people. More details to follow when we have selected dates and a venue.

For those who use Untappd, the club has a ‘brewery’ on the app, Middlesex Malters Homebrew Club. We encourage you to add your homebrew (prior to a meeting), so we can compulsively check-in the homebrews we sample.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday March 28th at the New England Emporium on Main Street in Middletown and the tasting will begin with the monthly beer style. March: Scotch Ale. Brew on!
