UDAD Computer Code: The Uranium Dispersion and Dosimetry (UDAD) Code

NUREG/CR-0553, ANL/ES-72

Prepared for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission under Interagency Agreement DOE 40-550-75.

UDAD, version IX, is a comprehensive computer program to provide estimates of potential radiation exposure to individuals and to the general population in the vicinity of a uranium processing facility. The UDAD Code incorporates the radiation dose from the airborne release of radioactive materials from uranium milling and processing facilities. It includes dosimetry of inhalation, ingestion and external exposures. The calculation of the inhalation dose rates and doses to an individual is based on the ICRP Task Group Lung Model (TGLM). Internal dosimetry is based on ICRP recommendations.

UDAD was used by the staff of U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for radiological assessment of several uranium mills for granting of operational license. In addition, it was used for preparation of the Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement on Uranium Milling (NUREG-0706).
