Orange County:

Lakeview House Restaurant - located on Orange Lake in Newburgh, N.Y. My wife and I enjoy this restaurant for the great food and the view of Orange Lake. (from Gary Leather)

Mohonk Mountain House - located in New Palz, N.Y. (from Ed McKenna)

2 East Main Street

Beacon, NY 12508

(845) 440-3327

There are three restaurants to choose from at the Roundhouse:

The Patio is a spacious outdoor dining area open for lunch, dinner, and cocktails May through October, weather permitting.

From Bill Walsh: Maryann and I have “discovered” two outstanding restaurants.

Matchbox Cafe - on the east side of (6242) Route 9, just south of Rhinebeck. Although the menu limited the food is always fresh and delicious and the folks very friendly. It’s small, very small, so you may have trouble getting seated on busy days. We have never had a problem during the week. They serve lunch and dinner. We can attest to the wonderful lunches. We have not had dinner there yet.

Hyde Park's Casual Cafe and Bake Shop

Ed McKenna and his wife Kara had a great lunch with friends at the Cranberry's at Tilley Hall located in Hyde Park. Here is the link to their website:

Ulster County:

Dolce - at 27 Broadway in Kingstown, down at Rondout Landing.

This new age restaurant is a great breakfast place and well worth the trip. The specialty pancakes are magnificent as are the crêpes. They serve Breakfast and Lunch. I’m certain lunch is great too.

Service is a bit slow owing to the small kitchen, so it isn’t the place to go if you are in a hurry.

This popular restaurant is small, we had to wait for seating on one visit. The restaurant is CASH only, so make sure you have a few bucks in your wallet when you do go.

It is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

They don’t seem to have a website either but again Yelp comes to the rescue.
