Acting President’s Message
6/13/2016This will be my final President’s Message for the MHV IBM Retirees Club. It has been an honor to serve as your leader for the past 4 years. During that time we have had some wonderful speakers, singers, and other demonstrations (like the Police K-9 unit which entertained us earlier this year). Lorraine Campilii served as Program Director for most of my time as President. She handed off to Eleanor Poster, who continues to offer us some fine entertainment and has speakers planned for a good part of next year. George McCracken has collected dues and provided quarterly Financial reports to IBM, which I have just needed to authorize (very little work for me!). For a number of years we have celebrated Christmas together at several fine venues. Cathy Golan has done the majority of the planning for those events and will need to have someone else carry on at this point. To all of these Officers and members we all owe heartfelt thanks.
We have supplemented dues income with our 50/50 drawings. The following members have offered sustained help: Vic Fanuele, Jim Cosgrove, Ken Crowe, and Jim Rickard. Through their efforts we have been able to provide “free” donuts at all of our meetings. We have had a fine refreshment committee, which served us for several years (Dave & Marge Harvatin, Joyce Shafer and Helen White followed by Jim Rickard and Joe Incoronato). They have provided donuts, coffee and helped with the end-of-year luncheons. Thank you to all members who have contributed to the 50/50 drawings.
We have had some wonderful times on various trips, such as last year’s day trip to the 911 Memorial, and in previous years to the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theatre, and The Thayer Restaurant at West Point. Some of our members have even travelled to Florida with Lou DeFelice. Lou was assisted by Francis McGrath, and Charlie Bonsignore. Thanks to them for all of their efforts.
Lastly, our webmaster, Gary Leather has posted my monthly messages, Meeting Program offerings, trip offerings, local events, Health info, Hudson Valley Offerings, pictures, Obituaries, recipes, etc., to our website even while he has travelled on vacation. Gary has done a wonderful job of keeping us informed. I will continue to provide information to Gary as long as he is willing to post it. Thank you Gary for your wonderful support!
If I have missed any significant contributor, I humbly apologize!
On 6/16/2016 we will have our 4th Annual end-of-year Luncheon, beginning at 12 noon, followed by Officer Elections for 2016. Following the election, at which I will hand the gavel to our next President, I will continue to open and close St. Mary’s KofC Hall as long as we continue to meet here.

Many new links have been added to the "Best of the Hudson Valley" section, thanks to the material Mary has b

If you have something you would like posted (a Restaurant, a Show or other Entertainment, a Place of Interest, or an Event) please let us know. This can be used just like the bulletin board we had at each meeting for awhile and the info Mary puts on the table at our meetings.
