2021 Maine Mayflower Society Essay Contest

Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, and Teachers!

Imagine the pride you will feel as your young writer reads their winning essay at the May 2021 State of Maine Mayflower Society meeting. Please encourage students in Grade 5-8 to enter the contest.

Grade 5 and 6:  

·         Topic to write about:    “A PILGRIM THAT WAS ON THE MAYFLOWER”

·         Write up to 350 words.

·         Prize: $100.00


Grades 7 and 8:

·         Topic to write about:     “WHAT THE PILGRIMS MEAN TO ME”      

·         Write up to 500 words.

·         Prize: $125.00


Entries will be judged on expression of personal thoughts and reflections, historical accuracy, focus to the topic, word choice, fluency and conventions of writing.
