Welcome

Greetings quilters, crocheters, artists, and friends!

This site was created to showcase my art quilts and share a special technique I developed for finishing the raw edge of fabric art. The work you'll see within focuses on natural and ethnic themes that arise from my Finnish heritage and childhood experiences in the north woods of Minnesota. Although my work is fiber art for the wall, some pieces can also be used as table art.

Melissa's Hidden Baseline Method

Learn how to finish the edge of your quilted/art piece with crochet work or other thread looping or knotting techniques. I will share my method for preparing your work so crocheting can be started along the edge. I will show examples of crocheting used as a major design element as well as a simply finished edge. This method is great for small quilts and other fabric art with many sides or curved edges. Even if you don’t crochet, this process will work for attaching fringe, looping, macramé, and other similar techniques. Go to Melissa's Hidden Baseline Method
