Melissa Lashure began teaching yoga in 2006. She founded Orange Cat Yoga in 2014. She was first introduced to yoga in PE class, while attending the Bronx High School of Science. Melissa’s classes are informed by her background in psychology, her love of movement, and her 20+ years of yoga experience.
Melissa encourages her students to find effortlessness and joy in even the most vigorous of movement. Melissa is a highly intuitive teacher. Her students often refer to her as a “mind reader” on account of her unique ability to tune in to and meet their specific needs. A nationally certified school psychologist, Melissa is passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone (particularly those with excess worry, limited time, or special needs). She specializes in offering yoga for anxiety & depression, children, couples, and athletic bodies.
Melissa was not born physically flexible; in fact, she could not touch her toes when she was first introduced to yoga! She is a humble and compassionate instructor who enjoys watching her students progress (regardless of their level or ability).
