MTFG Walk Programme  - May- Aug 2024

Chartham 13th November 2022 - John Williams

We set off for Chartham on a foggy Remembrance Day. On arrival we found the railway crossing was closed so rather than using the diversion we parked in a lay by and walked to the village hall. I was at the rear and as I neared the car park I could see Sandy was talking to a lady. It turned out to be John Williams sister Helen. It is two years this week since John died and she had come down from her home in the midlands. At this time of year John always did a walk and took out Sherry and mince pies. Helen had come especially armed with sherry, mince pies and chocolates for us to remember him with. What a lovely thought. During the walk the fog lifted to reveal lovely views and autumnal skies and after our two minutes silence ten of us enjoyed the food and had a toast in memory of our old friend John. - Chris Morris
