EMERGENCY SUB PLANS

Kindergarten & 1st grade

Watch one episode of Little Einsteins (24 minutes) then dance along with the zumba class. When you are done you can watch the other two videos - one is about orchestra instruments and one uses just paper cups to make music.

2nd & 3rd grade

  1. Watch the video "An animated adaptation of Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra". There is no talking during the story; see if you think the music and cartoon work together to tell a story. As the kids listen they may draw instruments or music notes using the paper, clipboards, pencils, and crayons located under the whiteboard.

  2. Learn about the four orchestral instrument families (strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion) and what each sounds like using the slideshow at https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Li_Jnv8Ad0aCWm-RxuFXycc0Q_Psyha4FiTcAV9CU0k/edit?usp=sharing

4th and 5th grade

  1. Watch the first 40 minutes of the video "Beethoven Lives Upstairs"
