The problems to be addressed will be listed here along with the due date for their completion. The following are example problems NOT the specific ones to be covered in the course. Specific problems will be posted as the course progresses.
What are the major problems in Medical Ethnobotany?
Can a hierarchy of problems be developed that can be used to develop the course content/learning objectives? This should include an understanding of not only the actual problems but the skills needed to address each of them from a modern scientific perspective.
Additionally, most problems will need to be understood from multiple perspectives (cultures, scientific disciplines, etc.) and therefore there will be more than one solution or way to approach a problem. Because of this it is essential that participants learn how to identify their functional framework or approach and not assume that each problem has one solution and that there is only one world view (globalized science) that is functional for developing solutions.
In more nuanced aspects participants need to be able to disentangle statements from sources that inappropriately intermingle problems and/or solutions that are logically/philosophically incompatible.
