Lunar Monsters
The Monster List
The following are a smattering of the sort of monsters you can have in a pulp science fiction game.
Black Mist
Black Mist is a very mysterious phenomenon. The mist is generally the size of a large template amd appears as a thick black fog able to move across the lunar surface with ease.
The mist absorbs energy and drains life from anything that it covers. Every round that any energy source remains within the mist it must make a VG(4) roll. Sentients will suffer Fatigue loss each time they fail. Non-sentient energy sources that do not have a VG value will simply use 1d4.
The Mist can also use a directed energy to attack its victims.
The Mist cannot be harmed by normal physical attacks, high energy weapons will have reduced effects.
During the lunar night a Black Mist will gain +4 to all stealth rolls.
Borer Worms, Small
Large worms that mostly remain underground boring out enormous tunnels, but occasionally breach the surface to form Worm Tunnels. Borer worms exude a silicon secretion from their skin that helps to seal the tunnel they are making from the vacuum. No that their tough hides need it.
Borer Worms, Large
Monstrously large worms that mostly remain underground boring out enormous tunnels, but occasionally breach the surface to form Worm Tunnels. Borer worms exude a silicon secretion from their skin that helps to seal the tunnel they are making from the vacuum. No that their tough hides need it.
Brains in a Bottle
Followers of the Church of the Celestial Moon who are particularly dedicated (or who mutate into something un-sustainable) have their brains removed from their bodies and placed into special bottles so they may continue to serve. These brains often develop new sensory abilities that allow them to interact with the world, as well as grow in psionic powers. They are placed in the most powerful temples where they take on the role of protectors. Some of them may be placed in charge of a group of Radiants for a special mission.
Bugs
Bugs are an alien lifeform that may have travelled here by themselves in BugPods (a biological cocoon that contains genetic material that can become active in the right conditions, and is capable of extended space flight, although only at sub light speeds). Bugs evolved in a low atmosphere environment and prefer this or a vacuum over a dense atmosphere which generally destroys the pod an entry (burns). The bugs of Lunar arrived some 50 years ago, either with the Martians or as a separate threat and have slowly been spreading over the dark side of the moon, which is sparsely populated. They have recently begun expanding and exploring.
The primary Hive will have several thousands of bugs and one Brainbug.
Bugs have a hive intelligence, the more of them there are the smarter the community becomes. Individually they are smarter than any earth animal, but nowhere near as smart as a normal human adult. Eventually a sufficient level is reached in a Hive and a Brain Bug will be generated who will take over the colony. A Brainbug is very dangerous as it will be able to decode knowledge locked in the genetic material of the Hive and gain Advanced Technology (albeit Bug Advanced Technology).
All bugs quickly decompose after death, breaking down into a sludge that other bugs can collect as food. This breakdown takes 1d4+1 hours and the material left behind gives no indication of what it originally was.

CONTROL Agent (Typical)
CONTROL Agents (Men in Black) enforce the law of the Big Three, everywhere. They have more power than an UNCLE agent and are more ruthless. Currently most of their resources are focused on the Martian problem, with some overwatch of the CMx2 situation (they are still looking for whoever is creating them)
Corals
An area of coral growth is called Quay. Several of these form a Reef. Areas of growth in a coral reef are called Piers (as they tend to expanding in a long line fashion with a new Quay at the end). The Quay is the active centre of a coral colony, and it is here that most of the active components of coral will be found. Areas between Quays will be filled with Tree or Battery Coral (energy collection and storage).

Crystals
An area of crystals is called a 'Prism', several areas will form a Forest. Certain areas of a forest will be active and growing, these areas are called a 'Matrix'. A Matrix is more likely to have active crystals (defenders and attackers). Old growth crystals become dormant and are called 'Agate' (their function becoming one of energy collection and storage) and consist mostly of monolith types.
Crystal Monoliths
The main form of the Crystals, these are huge hex shaped pillars that erupt out of the ground and grow to about 90 feet in height (width will be ht/4). Crystals move by growing new crystals at the base of existing crystals. This will cost them 5pp.
New crystals will grow 10 feet a round for 3 rounds in a quick burst, then grow about 5 feet per day. Once they reach 30ft they can chose to fall on threats using their mass and splintering to crush or cut them. Treat this as a cone area of effect, doing 3d6 damage. This has the added bonus of extending new growth much faster, new crystals can grow from any hex in the area of effect.
Old growth crystals tend to become dormant, moving into an energy production mode for the colony. Only when they are directly damaged will they awaken to take action. New growth areas, around the perimeter of the forest are likely to be active and still growing. New growth areas are called a Matrix.
Crystals are resistant to energy attacks (gain +2 toughness), but are vulnerable to Salt (Sodium nitrate) which does 2d6+2 damage to them per handful (small packet/grenade).
Crystal forests only perceive danger when actually being attacked (with the exception that Predators may simply attack anything). Even if an area of forest is destroyed, if things quieten down and no further damage is being suffered then the forest will consider the local threat finished. In a localised combat a forest will initially allocate energy resources equal to 30pp to deal with the situation. If this is fully expended and the situation appears to remain in conflict the forest will begin allocating serious amounts of energy and resources.

Swarms - Colony Bacteria:
The moon is home to a number of advanced mutated life forms that were shipped up from the earth. These are mostly bacterial forms who have formed symbiotic colonies that use a combination of properties to form a viable life form. Nearly all of them include a bacteria that is able to convert sunlight into food. Colony bacteria come in sizes from small patches a few inches across to large mobile forms upto several metres across. The manner in which they move themselves varies from colony to colony, most crawl along the surface, but others seem to be able to manipulate gravity and float across the landscape. All colony bacteria are attracted to metals, especially heavy metals and rare earths and will mindlessly seek them out.
All colony bacteria are treated as swarms.
Floaters - bacterial life form that creates bubble like habitats that can manipulate gravity and magnetic fields and float freely over the landscape.
Slime - acid waste slimes, colony creature that lives by dissolving rocks and using sunlight.
Slinkies - colony bacteria that propels itself across the landscape by rolling or flopping.
Slug Swarms - a semi-sentient colony bacteria able to form small life forms of their own with toughened exoskin, attach like leeches to suck water.
Bogs - are areas of land where bacteria live and survive by absorbing whatever falls into their clutches. Able to use tentacle type attacks to drag passing prey into it.
