Artwork

Matthew Stepka studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

His works explore both the dark and bright aspects of his inner self. He is most influenced by abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollack and post-impressionist Van Gough. He takes inspiration from Chinese watercolors and Japanese woodcuts as well. He enjoys playing with textures and abstract forms while still being figurative and allegorical.

Here are samples of his work:

Matthew has always been a cartoonist and illustrator at heart. Here are a few of his political cartoons commenting on Silicon Valley culture and modern relationships.

Somewhat late to the party, Matthew has been an enthusiastic member of the Burning Man community since 2005.
