Day 3

Data

Data is big business today. We are only concerned with routine handling of data in undergraduate engineering curriculum. This means

  • Plotting (we have done this)
  • Interpolation
  • Statistics
  • Curve Fitting

An important resource for handling data is Excel. You can import Excel data into MATLAB, finish your processing, and save your results back in Excel for neat appearance.

In this category we will also include example of special functions like

  • Taylor Series
  • Basis Function (Bezier)
  • Singularity Function
  • Optimization

The file below is an ascii text file with 4 columns of atmospheric data. I stored the information in StdAtmosphere.txt for processing during todays workshop.
