I am a researcher at the Geophysical Institute (University of Bergen). I specialise in climate teleconnections in the Euro-Atlantic area at the subseasonal and longer timescales; I also have interests in tropical climate and fluid dynamics.
My phd thesis is on convective heat transfer that can be found in internal air systems of jet engines and gas turbines. After graduation from the University of Bath in 2003 I moved to the fields of climate dynamics and geophysical fluid dynamics. My postdoc years in Italy and the US gave me the opportunity to gain experience in climate science, with particular focuses in tropical-extratropical teleconnections, climate variability, climate models, and high-performance computing. Before moving to Bergen in 2011, I was a lecturer (asst. prof.) at Monash University (Malaysia Campus) for two years where I was responsible for all aspects of teaching a number of computational engineering and fluid dynamics courses, supervising research of final-year students, serving in the computing facility and health & safety committees of the school, while continuing research in convective flows. The timeline below shows where I have been in my career so far. Outside work, I feel fortunate to be influenced and stimulated by the arts, culture, literature, and natural beauty of the countries I have lived in. An adventure can be had on any day.
