Digging Deeper for Kids
We dig deeper into the Ten Commandments this Sunday at 9:30.
This Week's Home Activity
• Find a Bible and glue the Ten Commandments cards in order.
If you lose a packet/need extra copies, Shelly Barber (shellyb@manito.org/838-3559) can help from 9-3 PM.
For the D.I.Y. option, see attached! :)
Here is an update on what we're digging up!
Elementary Youth Review
At 9:30, we asked the children to dig deeper into Genesis 17 to understand covenant. We used:
1) A demonstration with Velcro and
2) A craft called "The Hidden Covenant" (hiding or misspelling "covenant" rocks until Easter).
At 10:30, we taught the Ten Commandments by:
1) Using Gerry Gaw's lovely Ten Commandments poem as an introduction and
2) Comparing the Ten Commandments to rules we have in the family with a lesson and activity.
Preschool Review
At 9:30, we reviewed prayer by drawing pictures of ears and mouths to symbolize both talking and listening. Prayer is an important part of our covenant with God.
At 10:30, we reviewed:
1) How parents and God do not make us do hard things just because they are mad, but because they love us.
2) We also talked about being thankful for these boundaries, which will be a perfect lead-in for looking at the Ten Commandments at 9:30 next week.
