The group draw was sorted initially by handicaps. The lowest 16 handicaps were placed at random as player 1 in each group, the next 16 as player 2, the next 16 as player 3 and the last 16 as player 4. Ranking points were used to establish an order within players of the same handicap.

PLEASE NOTE:-

  • £10.00 entry fee; to be paid on first appearance

  • All players will be handicapped based on past performance and on their own league handicaps
  • Entries must be limited to 64
    • In the event of more than 64 entries being received, priority will be given to those on lower handicaps, regardless of when the entries were received
    • If it appears that some, but not all, players off a particular handicap can be accommodated, then those entries with the highest ranking will be preferred

  • Similar format to previous years
    • 16 groups of four; play two frames against each of the other players. 
      • Top two in each group to progress to KO stages
    • 32 qualifiers go through to KO stages
      • All group winners play a runner-up
    • The draw will be seeded so that the top eight survivors in the rankings will not meet before the QF stage

  • Dress code will be strictly applied in all KO stages - see rules for more details
  • All matches must be played on the specified dates. No alteration to dates will be permitted

The Manchester Open Snooker Tournament is a competition to find the best individual snooker player in the Greater Manchester area. It is open to all registered league players from affiliated leagues in the Greater Manchester area
