Art Option (30 points)

Imagine you are living with the Pascuans on Easter Island, and they've come to you and asked you to design the next style of Moai. They want it to be different enough to bring them into the "New Age" but similar enough that they aren't throwing all of their traditions away. Design (draw, sculpt, use photo editing programs, paint, etc.) to make your own version of the new Moai. Upload pictures to a site (such as imgur), and send the link along with a brief overview (4-5 sentences) of what you've changed and why.

Essay Option (30 points)

Write a short essay (250 words) discussing reasons mentions mentioned in the lesson, or other ones that you find, about why the Moai were first built. Which one do you find the most likely and why? Make sure you support your decision with examples.
