Prior to PhD, I worked in IBM and was responsible for developing modules for telecom billing analytics using Oracle (SQL & PL/SQL)–J2EE platform to process data files received from many upstream business units, validate the data and load into appropriate Oracle tables. I was also involved in maintaining sub-routines to generate performance reports based on analytics from the loaded data. I was certified in Oracle SQL. I received “Bravo Award – The best of IBM” in IBM India Private Limited, a cash award and a certificate with citation “For his dedication, commitment and hard work which was key to the successful deployment of the Cable Partners Project”.
As a research fellow in University of Southampton, I provided data management and analysis in ‘Solent Achieving Value from Efficiency’ (SAVE) project which aims at understanding the electricity conservation behaviour under various interventions. I developed a big data management system in Hadoop (Cloudera) and R. I conceptualised a simulation model to support policy makers in understanding electricity conservation behaviour dynamics in a regional scale. I was also working on developing water demand estimation model during droughts using behavioural simulation approach (IMPETUS). I also devised R based visualisation application (E4DIS) for monitoring electricity generation and performance data from solar micro-grids in African countries (Energy for Development).
As a research Associate in United Nations University (Bonn, Germany), I conceptualised ABM for studying climate change driven migration in vulnerable countries. I also provided household survey data analyses using SPSS for eight case study countries. I managed data quality checks, cleaning and analysis in SPSS which were contributed to policy briefs in the project (Where the rainfalls).
As a research assistant in Aston University, I developed Operations Research models for urban crisis response planning and management using techniques such as Integer programming, Agent-based modelling, transportation modelling, sensitivity analysis and simulation. I worked as a Research Assistant in a European commission funded project involving ten countries to understand the evacuation preparedness by government organisations and particularly the role of OR models. I traveled and conducted semi-structure interviews with Government organisations and NGOs in European countries (Belgium, Germany, Iceland, Sweden, and UK) and Japan.
