Summary

In total the ride took me

• 86 days (including a shakedown day in St. Augustine).
• 14 rest days, many forced by rain or high winds.
• Only 8 days of camping.
• 3400 miles, more or less (depending on shortcuts and diversions).
• 3 coasts (including the Gulf).
• 2 sets of tires.
• 6 inner tubes.
• 3 chains.

I also lost 10 to 15 pounds, which was not good.

Some of the hardest days were

• 75 miles from Franklinton La. to Jackson, arriving at sunset.
• 82 miles into Austin, with time out for a flat and a complete change of tires.
• 40 miles over the pass to the Gila cliff-dwellings and back.
• 68 miles to the Apache Casino with a case of food poisoning that put me off my feed for several days.

As is customary, I dipped a wheel in the ocean at the start and finish. This gets sand in everything!
