There are two different modes of controls you can use for this game: Classic and Touch. When you first start a new game, you pick between them, but you can also change them anytime in the menu.
Classic Mode: This is my preferred mode on control, as I grew up playing this game on an Xbox 360. In classic, the controls are similar to what you would find on an Xbox or Playstation console. On the lower right of the screen are four circles in a diamond shape. The bottom bottom is jump, the left button is attack, and the top button is used to switch characters (In a level or mission, characters can also be switched by holding your profile in the top left of the screen, which will cause a character list to come down. Slide to the desired character and release to switch to that character. This is the only way to access your full list of characters in many of the modes outside of Story Mode). The right button, labeled with a question mark, is used for an action that is not an attack. This can include building, using the Force, throwing a thermal detonator, and more. You move around by sliding your thumb across the left side of the screen. When you do this, and circle with arrows will appear to help guide you.
Note that the motion pad appears on the screen
wherever you touch.
Touch Mode: In this mode, there are no buttons. To move around, you can tap a point on the ground, and then you can drag your finger across the screen to move more freely. If you want to jump up to an area, tap the top of the area. To build, use Force, etc. (actions that would be used by tapping the question mark button), hold down the object(s)/character you want the action performed on. To strike/shoot an object/character, tap said object/character. To switch to another character (without holding down the profile icon), hold down on the character you wish to switch to. You should see their profile above them now, and a ring going around it, counting down to how long it is until you switch to that character. I think that is all, but if anybody regularly plays with touch mode, let me know if I let anything out!
