LVRC Start Date for Alpine and Freestyle.

LVRC's first night for the 22/23 season is Wednesday 1/4/23 at 5:30 PM.  Wednesday is the start of our 8 week program that meets every Wednesday and Monday at 5:30 PM  to 7:30 PM.   With the exception of February School Break, which we will host a ski/ ride camp.  This Wednesday will also be a Board Meeting and we encourage all parents to attend to help us plan our JP Race.

Heads up for Christmas vacation week camp

We are sorry to say that we have made the tough decision to cancel Saturday's big mountain trip. With the impending storm, we did not receive but a few sign ups as many expressed concern about travelling and skiing in this storm. It looks like a good one!  Hopefully Lost Valley gets some of mother nature's winter gift too! Don't forget Lost Valley opens this Friday at 4pm and will also be open Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4pm.

For those who did purchase tickets to Sunday River, you can go online and turn that ticket into a voucher to be used toward the cost of another ticket during the 22-23 season.

We are excited  to let you all know that we are looking to put something together for an early spring skiing big mountain trip. We'll be working on the details and will send communication later in the season.

Just a reminder that our Christmas vacation week ski camp is 12/27-12/29 (9am-1pm.)  Look for the sign up and camp details via email early next week.

Have a great night! Think Snow and hope to see you all at the mountain real soon!

Cancelling the 12/10 Big Mountain trip

Hey everyone! Just a quick note to let you all know that unfortunately we are cancelling the 12/10 big mountain trip. Mother nature simply has not cooperated and the number of trails and lifts that are open wouldn't make for the best training conditions.  It looks like colder temps are in the forecast for the coming week. We will continue to watch the weather and trail conditions closely and hope to make the 12/17 trip a go. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Kids, whatever it is that you do to get it to snow, now is the time to do it and a lot of it!   Think snow ski peeps!

LVRC Has Some Exciting News!

LVRC Introduces Freestyle Snowboard & Ski Training for the 21/22 Season!

LVRC has been training Alpine racers for 30 plus Years and now it’s time to dedicate its efforts to the Snowboarders and Freestyle skiers.  We have recruited 3 outstanding coaches to help hone your athletes’ skills in the terrain park and on the hill.   This training will help your athlete get to the next level in the terrain park and on the hill and hopefully provide the confidence and skills necessary to compete.  It is expected that the athlete is proficient at navigating the features in any terrain park.  This is not for beginners.

The LVRC Snowboard and Freestyle team will meet twice a week on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 5:30 to 7:30 PM starting the first week in January and go for 8 weeks.   Additionally, we will try and get the crew to other mountains for training and competitions.  Finally, if there is interest, we will hold 3 day training camps during the 2 winter vacation weeks.  See attached Registration sheet for details on pricing and schedules.

For everything at Lost Valley, access to the mountain will be the responsibility of the racer.  The racer will either purchase a Season’s pass or buy a ticket for each night of training.

Want to find out more?

Ok, here is the skinny….Youth sizes for the suits cost $309, Adult sizes are $349.  Yeah, the pricing is average, but there is more…..We have sponsors for the suits.  What?  What does that mean?  We have no idea how many suits will be purchased so, after the order is placed, we will extend a credit to next season’s registration based on the sponsors' donations divided by the number of suits purchased.  You might walk out of this with a $209 suit, it could be that big.  It also could be much smaller but time will tell.  We will do our best to make sure your racer gets the best they can for the lowest price.

If purchasing a suit at this price is not in the budget and probably won't ever be, reply to this email and we will see if we can work something out with you.  First and foremost, racers come first in our book and we will do whatever we can to make it happen.

Below is the Link to order the suits by July 4th:

http://www.hurricaneracing.com/store/categories/Lost-Valley-Racing-Club/

We need a minimum of 12 suits to make the order happen.  So, if you are on the fence, take the leap to help us out.  They are so Cool,  I'm considering ordering a Triple XL for Baxter Race nights on Thursdays!

JP Race Update   1-19-2021

Hi Racers,

We hope you are well and excited for the JP Parisien Memorial Race race this coming Saturday!  A few important housekeeping items to review below and more information to follow.   As always, our race club is ready and willing to answer any questions.

Please note that we are required to follow strict guidelines from the CDC and USSA on facilitating the race.  In conjunction with Lost Valley we anticipate a very safe, fun race day!   Things will be a bit different this year!

1) You will be receiving a Health Check from SkiAdmin racing that is required to be completed in order to race.   It is very easy to do.  It is time sensitive! Don't wait to fill it out.  You can also log into your profile to complete the Health Check. Keep an eye on your email.

2) If you are not planning on attending please email us before Thursday evening at lvraceclub@gmail.com

3) If you are on the waiting list, please note that if a spot opens up, Ski Admin will be in touch to go back in and pay for you to race.   We strongly advise that you complete the Health Check as well and check your email frequently.

Please know that we cannot exceed 100 racers!

4) Spectators - please be aware that spectators will be limited to the deck area and fire pit area.  We cannot allow any spectators at the finish line or to the left of it as we have had in previous years.

A full schedule will be coming out shortly.

Here is an outline of the beginning of the day:

Race Registration opens at 7:30-9am.

*YOU will only be able to pick up your bib/bag due to COVID-19, please plan accordingly.  Coaches cannot pick up bibs/bags.

* we are required to have each racer complete a "Health Symptom screening" the day of the race.

CDC requires a two part screening process.  (First - from SkiAdmin 24-48 hours before the race, and Second - the day of).

For the day of the race: We will have QR codes posted in multiple places for you to be able to quickly complete this step prior to picking up your bib.

Lifts open at 9am.  Therefore and due to indoor capacity, we are strongly suggesting that you boot up in your car and/or use our new warming hut!  The "to go" window will be open and there will be a fire going outside.   Please familiarize yourself with Lost Valley's information about

COVID-19 https://www.lostvalleyski.com/news/

Course Inspection by Team will start at 9:15-9:45.  Your coaches will get more information at the Coach's meeting before the race.

Should you be an independent we will provide information at the top of the race course on when you will inspect.

10:00am first racer starts

Look for a complete schedule coming out tomorrow.

Thank you for your support!

Christmas Camp Update   12-27-20

Tuesday and Wednesday Christmas camp days are going to happen!

However, each day will be a 2 hour block starting before 9 AM. The cost will be equal to a one day session of $55. Those that paid the all-inclusive registration, access to the camp is included.  The racers are encouraged to free ski after the 2 hour session for further development and can ask coaches for specific skills to practice on.

There is limited space on the hill because of the recent deluge.  So, the 2 hour block is more conducive to group training before the crowds.  About the time LVRC racers finish the session, the day skiers will start hitting the trails.  Access to the trails is almost a guarantee, but setting gates are not.  The racers should be aware that Skills and Drills will the focus of the camp.  Gate training will happen if we can make it happen.

To maximize the 2 hour block, the racers need to be ready to go at 8:50 AM and waiting at the firepit in front of the lodge.  We want the camp participants to be the first ones in line when lifts open at 9 AM.  The Lodge will be open from 8:00 AM on, to allow the racers to gear up in the basement.

The Details:

Tuesday (12/29/29) – 8:50  AM to 11 AM

Meet at firepit in front of Lodge

Wednesday (12/30/29) – 8:50   AM to 11 AM

Meet at firepit in front of Lodge

Lost Valley will be making snow Tuesday Night weather permitting.  So, they are asking everyone to do a “Snow” or “Make it Cold “ dance.  Nothing big, just a little jig.  If your racer does one, share with us and we will post it on our Facebook page.

Christmas Camp Update   12-26-20

It appears the Year 2020 is not done with us yet!

The recent rain has created a non-conducive environment to hold a 4 hour training session.  So, we are going to cancel the first day of Camp, Monday 12/28/20.  Tuesday and Wednesday will remain as of now but move to a status of TBD for each day.

Although it is not conducive for the training camp, Lost Valley will be open, and we encourage all to get out and free ski on Monday.

As always, things are subject to change, so keep a lookout for more communication over the next few days.

Big Mountian Trip to Sunday River, Saturday 12/19/20 Update

Finally!……it's happening, our first big mountain trip for this Saturday! For those that signed up for the trip, here are the details:

Pick up your tickets from Shannon Vincent between 7:45 and 8:00 AM on the patio (lift side)  of the Lodge.  There is a walkway/tunnel under the building from the parking lot to the lifts.  Shannon will be in proximity of the top of the stairway on the patio on the lift side.  If you are running late, please let us know.  And these are COVID-19 times so the schedule of events can be fluid.

Payment…The cost will be $36 a person for non SR Pass holders.  If you hold a SR Season’s pass there is no cost if you did the all-inclusive LVRC registration, and $10 if you did Punch Pass.  Shannon will not have the Square with her so please bring a check or exact change cash.  It is awfully close to Christmas so if you need to make alternate arrangements, just email us.

Coaches will meet the racers at 8:00 AM between the Chondola and the south ridge express lifts.

These are COVID-19 times and Sunday River has changes and restrictions that will affect your visit.  I encourage each of you to follow the below link to get up to date on the expectations.

https://www.sundayriver.com/covid/skier-services

I have copied and pasted the key lodge requirements listed below.

JP Race Registration is now Live!

Register your Racers while there is still time!

If you are an All inclusive LVRC'er, registration is included and we will register you!

12/12 & 12/19 Big Mountain Trip Updates

The Big Mountain trip for this weekend has been postponed, yet again.  We have made the decision because of the rain this weekend and limited trails to train on at SR.  We apologize to all the racers that want to get out and carve up the mountain.

The next big mountain trip is scheduled for 12-19-20.  Let us all keep our fingers crossed that this one is a go.  The cost will be $36 a person, and as always, siblings and parents can enjoy the same ticket price if they wish to join us.  If you hold a SR Season’s pass there is no cost if you did the all-inclusive LVRC registration, and $10 if you did Punch Pass.

Please send us an email (LVRaceclub@gmail.com) if you plan to attend the 12-19 trip with the number of people that require tickets.

Meeting location, times and more details will come out next week as we get closer to the event.

JP Race Update

Covid 19 has redefined how we do racing for this Season.  Following USSA Guidelines, races are limited to 100 Racers.

We will be holding the race on 2 weekends this Year to accommodate the age groups.

The first Race will be held on  Saturday Jan 23rd  for  U12's & U14's.

The second race will be held on Superbowl Sunday as usual,  Feb 7th, for U8's and U10's.

Unfortunately we weren't able to accomodate all of the groups and had to eliminate the U16 and U18 categories this Year.

Each race date will be limited to 100 racers, so its first come first serve for the event.  Online registrations will be available in December.

COVID 19 Update

LVRC is planning on offering our training sessions this 20/21 season.   On the hill training will happen as normal and we are still waiting on guidance for the activities that take place in the Lodge.  Skiing is outdoor activity that is listed as low risk by the CDC; however, activities in the Lodge such as getting geared up and down before and after the sessions could prove difficult while maintaining social distancing.  Lost Valley is currently determining what needs to be done to keep everyone safe and adhere to the guidlines provided by the CDC.  Lost Valley is working with NSAA to develop best practices.  If Covid 19 is still with us this winter, one thing for sure is that buffs and/or face covings will be required inside and in the lift lines, so stock up if you don't have any.

LVRC will be hosting a membership night on Wednesday November 4th to answer all of your questions and accept sign-ups.  Hopefully we will have an idea what the season will look like this Year.

LVRC Fundraiser Night Update!

Thanks to all who played a role in the successful LVRC Fundraiser night at Lost Valley on July 15th!  You helped raise $819.42 for the club!

Special thanks go out to Olivia Tassinari and Ellie Porter who made bracelets to sell during the event!  Their contribution made up 15% of the total revenue for the night!  You girls rock!

Would also like to recognize our local sponsors who contributed to the event.  The event would not have been as successful without their support.  Please help us thank them by patronizing their establishments!

LVRC Fundraiser Night, July 15th, at Lost Valley

LVRC is holding a fundraiser at Lost Valley from 4:30 to 9 PM.  Lost Valley will generously donate 25% of its food sales on the 15th.  LVRC is a nonprofit, so all of the proceeds will go towards keeping the costs down for training during next Year's Season.  Invite all of your friends, families  and fellow racers to help make this a success.  This will also be a great opportunity for all of the young racers to reconnect and regale about last Year! So, mark your calendars and join us for this special event!

We would also like to conduct a silent Auction and/or 50/50 raffle during the event as well.  If anyone can acquire items to donate for the auction and prizes let us know.  We appreciate the help.

Training at Sunday River:

We need to have a list of members joining us at Sunday River on Saturdays in December. We need a minimum of 15 to attend. Please email us by Wednesday of each week, if you are planning to join us. I need to know how many adults and how Racers will be in the group. We will make a determination by Friday Mornings, whether or not its still on. Also, let us know if you'd be willing to give another racer a ride.

Same deal as always, Family members are invited to join us to take advantage of the reduced ticket rate.We have not confirmed the group rates yet, but last Year's Ticket price for all will be $40 . For those with Sunday River passes, it will be $15 fee for the racer to help cover the Coaches.

We will be meeting at the South Ridge Lodge at 8 AM to mosey on down and get the tickets. Your racers should be suited up and ready to go at 8 AM. The lifts open at 8 AM and we want to be on the fresh snow as soon as we can. I recommend arriving at the Lodge at 7:30 AM to give yourself enough time to get ready and go with the pack to get the tix. We usually change up and stash our stuff on the 2nd floor of South Ridge, so if you are the first to arrive head on up and snag us a table. the location is right across from the Foggy Goggle. If you are running a bit late just try and hook up with us by 8 AM so that we can get your discounted ticket. If you are going to be later than 8, try and call somebody to let us know you are on your way. Please have cash or check with your racer to pay for the ticket. We prefer cash but will take a check. If you do write a check, make it out to: Lost Valley Racing Club.

ABOUT THE MAGNO-PACKARD RACE

REGISTER NOW

Tom Magno was captain of the state championship 1967 Edward Little Ski Team at a time when combined scoring in four events – downhill, slalom, cross country and jumping – determined the winning team. He won the state Nordic combined and jumping championships which earned him a place on the US Junior National team. Unfortunately, financial considerations ended his pursuit of the sport after high school. Tom passed away January 15, 1995 at the age of 47.

Bob Packard was a 1980 graduate of Lewiston High School. He was a member of the Auburn Ski Association and the consummate volunteer, always available to help with the course or in anyway needed to hold a successful event for the ‘kids.’ Without the dedication of volunteers like Bob, a generation of new racers would not have the opportunity to experience the joy of racing and the friendships formed in the skiing community. Bob passed away June 10, 2015 at the age of 53.

Categories for the race are in both Alpine and Snowboard for ages from 3 to 73! Register the morning of the event from 8:00 - 9:30 am. The $25 entry fee includes a lift ticket. Race begins by 10:00 am. Gold, silver and bronze medals are given in each category, as well as special awards/prizes in ‘fun’ categories. This event is known for an emphasis on family participation. The kids love racing with Dad, Mom, Grandma and Granddad! One of the highlights of this race is the 'shootout', when the top finishers in chosen categories go head to head in dual pro-format, racing with differential timing in order to determine the King (or Queen) of LostValley. Come join the Fun!!!

Register online at http://lostvalleyskiresort.menusinyourtown.com/lost-valley-… http://lostvalleyskiresort.menusinyourtown.com/lost-valley…/ , Walk in registrations day of 8am-9:30, racing starts at 10a

The Monday after vacation, 2/25/19, is the last day of the regular season. LVRC will continue to have training sessions, but Lost Valley's March's hours of operations will determine what days. LVRC's Third big mountain trip is Saturday December 15th!

I need to have a list of members joining us at Sunday River on Saturday December 15th.  We need a minimum of 15 to attend.  Please reply to this email as soon as you can if you are planning to join us.  I need to know how many adults and how Racers will be in the group.    We will make a determination by Friday Morning, 12/14/2018, whether or not its still on.  Also, let us know if you'd be willing to give another racer a ride.

Same deal as always,  Family members are invited to join us to take advantage of the reduced ticket rate.

Ticket price for all will be $40;  however, those with Sunday River passes, it will be $10 fee for the racer to help cover the Coaches.

We prefer cash, but will take a check.  If you do write a check, make it out to: Lost Valley Racing Club.

12-6-18

Unfortunately, not enough racers have signed up for this Saturday's big mountain trip, 12/8/18; consequently, we have decided to cancel it.  For those of you that expressed interest in going, I hope that you get out on your own and ski fast!  our next LVRC event will be on Saturday 15 December.

Again, Saturday December 8th’s big mountain trip is cancelled.

LVRC Big Mountain Trip - Suday River 12/1/2018

It that's time of year again,  Skiing and Racing!  LVRC's first big mountain trip is Saturday December 1st!  We hope you can join us!

I need to have a list of members joining us at Sunday River on Saturday December 1st.  We need a minimum of 15 to attend.  Please reply to this email as soon as you can if you are planning to join us.  I need to know how many adults and how Racers will be in your group.    We will make a determination by Friday Morning, 11/30/2018, whether or not its still on.  Also, let us know if you'd be willing to give another racer a ride.

We have not confirmed the group rates yet, but last Year's cost for the trip is $37 for Racers and $47 for adults.  Looks like a standard tick price for that weekend is $63 and the group rate will save you at least $16 a person.    For those with Sunday River passes, it will be $10 fee for the racer to help cover the Coaches.

We will be meeting at the Barker Lodge at 8 AM to mosey on down and get the tickets.  Your racers should be suited up and ready to go at 8 AM.  The lifts open at 8 AM and we want to be on the fresh snow as soon as we can.  I recommend arriving at the Lodge at 7:30 AM to give yourself enough time to get ready and go with the pack to get the tix.  We usually change up and stash our stuff on the top floor of Barker, so if you are the first to arrive head on up and snag us a table.  If you are running a bit late just try and hook up with us by 8 AM so that we can get your discounted ticket. If you are going to be later than 8, you can try and call me, but I can't guarantee I'll get the call.  Please have cash or check with your racer to pay for the ticket.  We prefer cash, but will take a check.  If you do write a check, make it out to: Lost Valley Racing Club.

JP Parisien Memorial Race Update
