Sun, Jan 6, 2013 at 12:18 PM

Los Angeles to Bakersfield - 2 hours travel time by motor vehicle - 120 miles at 60 Miles Per Hour (per Google Maps)

Los Angeles to San Diego - 2 hours

Los Angeles to Fresno - 3 hours

Los Angeles to Las Vegas - 4 hours

Los Angeles to San Francisco - 5.5 hours

Los Angeles to Sacramento - 5.5 hours

Los Angeles to Phoenix Arizona - 5.5 hours

Los Angeles to Tucson AZ - 7 hours

Los Angeles to Flagstaff AZ - 7 hours

Los Angeles to Reno NV - 7.5 hours

Los Angeles to Denver Colorado - 15 hours

Boise to Sacramento CA - 9 hours (at 60 MPH)

----------------------------

Many of these distances are much shorter than I thought they were.

Looks like they could roll between 200 to 1000 fire trucks into Los

Angeles within 15 hours. If they were prepared. If they didnt spend 48

hours going thru the paperwork to request the units. if anyone had any

good mutual aid radios.

Do the Phoenix and Las Vegas units have the FIREMARS channels? Have

they ever heard of the FIREMARS channels?

Will the Las Vegas units get as far as Baker and run out of fuel? Will

the Phoenix units break down in the desert near Needles? Will 4X4

units be able to drive around destroyed bridges? (Actually -

considering the topography of California - I would say no way).

Maybe it would be cool if all the Air Force FDs loaded all of their

rigs into USAF cargo planes, and immediately took off for Los Angeles

at the first sign of trouble. (Well - I can dream anyhow).

Lots of people are going to be needing help in Los Angeles when the

big one hits. Lets hope that there are plans in effect to get the help

there quickly.
