Emphasis on Literacy

A renewed emphasis on literacy to include more textbooks, more grade specific novels, beginner materials for English as a Second Language (ESL) students, phonics materials, and accelerated reading and writing programs as well as exploring a program to support expanded literacy in the home by involving parents in their children’s daily classroom efforts.

Technology in the Classroom

Technology has become an integral part of the LUSD classroom. Today’s technology can provide teachers and students with opportunities for teaching and learning that were impossible in the past. As an instructional tool, technology helps all students master basic and advanced skill which allows students to be career and college ready after graduation.

Visual and Performing Arts

Art, music, dance and theater offer cultural advantages which have been eliminated by budget constraints at various levels and societal changes which have prevented the nurturing of creative talents in our youth.
