Reflection:
Since I began studying for a Master's of Science in Leadership at Southwestern College, I have learned new information, gained the ability to perform responsibilities well, and developed a newfound leadership proficiency to operate my moving business here in Wichita, KS. These essential tools have assisted me in associating with higher-positioned colleagues, employees at my level, and lower-ranked employees in my organization. Also, these three things have enabled me to know the best methods to influence my employees to behave in a way that will allow them to provide standard jobs to consumers. These things have also enabled me to be a leader with the element of conscious knowledge of my character, feelings, motives, and desires which assist me to control essential activities in my organization. In all, the use of these crucial assets exhibits to my employees that I am ready and capable of accomplishing leadership duties within my company.
Followership
My first artifact (LEAD 510) gives evidence that as a leader, I understand the principle of delegating to those whom I employ and doing what I can to simplify my role as I guide my employees. Organizations need employees who are willing to cooperate in working toward *** defined goals as much as they need the art of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common desire. Good leaders are also a group of individuals who rather than decide what is right for them, will adopt the beliefs and opinions of others very well. Technically, companies are very interested to have workers who tend to agree with the beliefs of others. Besides, the majority of companies are interested to have employees who follow their leaders while being directed towards words and actions that show honor and worth; these kinds of employees should get along well with their leaders. This is very essential for both leaders and their followers because it allows the transfer of data more smoothly. Lastly, I am the kind of individual who has the ability and the dare to bring to light when responsibilities are not done right in my organization. Even though I am aware that I will face rejection to a large extent, this clearly shows that I am a kind of a leader who dedicates myself; I am capable to contact and communicate with top leaders, especially when responsibilities within my company are done unethically.
Self-Management
The second artifact (LEAD 515) clearly shows that I am a kind of leader who can control my daily activities, as well as the way I act toward others simply because I have the capacity as an individual to recognize my own emotions and those of others. Just like any other professional organization leader, I am aware that I need to practice self-management while I am performing my daily responsibilities within my organization. Also, I have discovered that the best way for me to become successful in producing the desired result is to make sure that I am capable of being in charge of five essential things, which associates with the formation of the so-called intense feelings of intellect. These five things are: an awareness of one's personality, control of oneself, initiative to continue a task without another’s supervision, the capacity to understand what another person is experiencing, and the ability to communicate, persuade, and interact with other members of the society without undue conflict. Previously, I used to work for Jiffy Lube Company as a lube technician, and I always made sure to pay close attention to identifying and managing my own emotions as well as the emotions of others. Technically, I was the leader of my fellow lube technicians, and they always relied on me, especially for advice about how they can do a quality job. Additionally, my co-workers always relied on my advice when they were facing difficulties because they knew that I would always prevent our organization from getting unexpected losses. Furthermore, while I was working, I always made sure that I continued to be stimulated even when I needed rest. I always led my co-workers by example; this is why I was able to easily prove to my co-workers that I am a kind of a leader who is stimulated based on what I was doing and the way I act while I was working with them. Also, as a leader, I was always successful in managing my emotions and possess the ability to identify and regulate the emotions of others as well. I can do this by using my conscious knowledge of my character, feelings, motives, and desires. This is very important because it allows me to influence followers to do essential responsibilities, and it opens the door for me to be a leader who believes in myself.
Purpose and Direction
In the third artifact (LEAD 580), I had an opportunity to write a paragraph that encapsulates everything that I would like to be, do, and have in my career. In short, here I define what success and excellence look like to me. Technically, here I was required to explore my written-down reason for being and which many believe it to be the key to finding my own path in life. My formal summary of my aims and my values is to practice a leadership philosophy in which my main goal will be served, to be an honest leader who follows good morals and standards. Also, I will be the absolute best person I can be to anyone I come across; technically, I will do that by making sure that I give evidence that I am there to make sure that I assist my followers in their advancement at any cost. For this to happen, I will make sure that I provide them things like implement, a source of support, and a work environment that will allow them to advance. Also, it proves my dedication to practice principles that when followed, will promote values such as trust, good behavior, fairness, and kindness; this proves that I am interested in making sure that I deal with every follower with admiration, awareness of the feelings and emotions of other people, and persuading followers to make sure that we deal with the past lingering anger against ourselves. My formal summary of the goals and values of my company clearly describes the type of leadership that takes place in the middle of my organization. Simply put, the best way for me to practice my dream of becoming the best leader in my organization is to make sure that I live by my formal summary of the goals and values of my company each day. I believe that my company meets the essential standards for my customers and employees. What I do daily in my organization shows that I am dedicated and fit to make sure that my followers are advancing.
Committed to Quality
In (LEAD 585), I managed to have a chance to use a tool for understanding and managing organizational performance to my current job of moving furniture within my company. This is important because it allows me to discover the extent that employees have managed to do a good job and to what extent employees have not managed to do their job properly. In addition, this allows me to figure out what I need to do to contribute to the advancement of employees and to figure out what activities we managed to do exceptionally. Technically, I am a leader in my own company because I have the responsibility to make sure that we manage to provide better services to our customers. Furthermore, I have to make sure that I continue to support the kind of 'culture' which is focused on bringing advancement currently and in the future, supplying products and services which meet customer satisfaction, and the advancement of people who agree with the beliefs of others. In fact, by using my company and my process of analyzing and evaluating one action and daily checking to what extent employees have managed to do a good job and low-quality job. My company has managed to provide quality goods and services to our customers to the extent that I and my employees feel proud of ourselves. By examining the extent of how we can provide quality services to the customers, we have managed to make several modifications, which helps us in advancing the quality of our service to our customers. This is why I have every reason to believe that I have managed to advance my leadership qualities in my organizations.
Motivating Others
The final artifact (LEAD 575) clearly explains the reason as to why I am behaving in a particular way in my company and how this contributes to the advancement of my leadership activities and achievement of my followers and my company in general. The Expectancy Theory of Motivation is extremely essential because it proposes that an individual will behave in a certain way because they are motivated to select a specific behavior over others due to what they expect the result of that selected behavior will be. As a leader in my company, this helps me to become aware that if my employees work hard, they will eventually produce quality goods and services for the customers of the company. This is important because it will build the so-called goodwill for our company's future advancement; simply put, the same customer will come back to us to buy goods and services, and we can develop new customers as a result of our goodwill. This is important because it allows me to assist my employees with their current and future aims. In other words, it will help me to understand how I should speak to my followers when they do something wrong or when they do a good job. Lastly, I have discovered that as a leader, I am aware of what inspires my followers. This is important because it increases my capacity to affect my followers' character, development, as well as their behavior, and it has assisted me to advance my leadership powers.
Conclusion
Based on the artifacts which I have written on this paper, I have managed to prove that currently and, in the future, I am in a better position to develop my leadership skills in my company which associates itself with moving furniture. I understand the essence of the actions of someone in a subordinate role and my conscious knowledge of my character, feelings, motives, and desires; this allows me to know what kind of productive leader I need to be to contribute to advancement in my company. Just like any other organizational leader, I can inspire, and I can affect the character, development, or behavior of my followers because I spend additional periods to figure out what inspires them. The fact that I am the kind of a leader who knows the practice of what I need to be doing and how I am committed to living my life. This is important because it gives me the ability to know the essential steps which I need to take to achieve the goals of my company in the future. I am always the kind of leader who is dedicated to providing better service to customers who buy goods and services from our company. Usually, I do this while making sure that the culture which I have in my company supports the advancement of better services to our clients as well as the advancement of our followers.
Future Learning Goals:
Utilizing my leadership skills and having a strong desire to be more successful will advance my company. I will dedicate myself to making sure that I communicate with my followers frequently and ask them questions regarding the kind of job which they are doing. Also, I will ask them what kind of problems they are facing while they are doing their daily tasks and what kind of success they have managed to achieve. I will make sure to ask for opinions from my followers regarding their job performance and my job performance. This is important because it will allow me to build my leadership skills and give me the chance to become a better leader in the future. Also, I will ask my followers to what extent my duties and behaviors have within our organization assists them positively or negatively from a leadership point of view. I believe that I am doing the right things to ask my follower's opinions regarding my leadership activities within our organization. Because it will allow me to figure out my weaknesses and what I need to do to improve my leadership abilities. Lastly, I will make an effort to try to figure out the internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy to my followers to be continually interested and committed to their job. I will be able to do this by being closer to them which will allow me to know what they like, what they do not like, and how they associate with others. After that, I will do everything within my power to make sure that I use my leadership skills in a way that will inspire my followers to accomplish their organizational goals successfully.
