Scouting is a full year program. This year, dues will cover the scout’s national and council registration fees. All other costs are funded by fundraising!... including advancement recognitions, meeting supplies, adult leader & pack registration fees.
Pack dues + Fundraising = Registration fees + Pack program cost
Cost to families
Dues – annual dues will be collected between the Sept-Dec timeframe and are due by December.
Uniform – Most scouts purchase the uniform shirt, and “2” red unit number. Adult leaders are also encouraged to purchase the adult uniform shirt.
Optional extras – Additional activities such as overnight campouts, field trips, day camps and resident camps have additional costs associated with them.
Costs paid by the pack
Registration fees = BSA National dues (per scout), council dues including insurance (per scout), leader fees, and unit annual rechartering fee.
Pack 2 program cost = Advancement recognitions, including: belt loops, pins, patches, handbooks, slide & kerchief, all provided by the pack to each scout. Meeting costs, such as: pinewood derby kits and other activity kits, supplies, zoom subscription, etc.
Additional help – Council has a budget to provide scholarships and Pack 2 also has some ability to accommodate the needs of families. This is made possible with fundraising.
Fundraising
There is a need for all families to participate in fundraising, as it is essential to our program. Fundraising pays for our entire program cost, plus additional registration fees.
Popcorn – This fall we will only be selling popcorn online, with no plans to sell in front of stores. In past years, our scouts sell at storefronts, wagon (door-to-door), or online.
Hike-a-thon – During the months of October and November our scouts will be out hiking and cleaning the beautiful trails of Littleton! Sponsors support our scouts as we provide the service of cleaning trails! The fundraiser connects 3 important aspects of scouting: physical fitness, respect for the environment, and service to the community.
