My first year as President of the Club has gone by in a flash!
Our Lion’s year was going great, we started Chase the Ace and we resurrected the Meat Draws. We were planning the Walleye Classic and were excited to launch it at the end of Centre Street with room for people to see all the excitement of the fishermen and women when they come in with their fish and then
BANG, Covid-19 hit us like a ton of bricks.
Everything ground to a halt and is still on the back burner. July 1st has come and gone, no pancake breakfast, no parade, no Sunshine Arts Festival and NO FIREWORKS! In addition; the Pit Beef is cancelled for this year. I am wondering when we can resume all the things we normally do
We have restarted Chase the Ace and our sales have been steady. Please come to the Waterfront Bar and Grill on Wednesdays from 6-8 for supper and buy a ticket for a chance to win. Also, tickets are available at the Waterfront every day or you can ask a Lion member to get you one.
Due to social distancing and only being able to serve limited numbers it looks like our Fowl Supper may not go ahead this year. More news on that later this summer. Even though our fund raising will be less this year, we will continue to provide some support to community and worldwide initiatives.
The Lion’s Clubs of Canada turned 100 years old this year. The first club in Canada was started in Windsor, Ontario in 1920.
Another celebration will be our Town of Regina Beach which turns 100 on September 1st. Congratulations to both Lions of Canada and the Town of Regina Beach. Stay safe and healthy everyone, we will see you all when this is over.
