Archival Data

Instructor: Scott Soltis

In this mini-module we will discuss some of the benefits and challenges of collecting data from archival sources (such as information accessible via web sites). The versatility of this approach will be demonstrated by highlighting some unconventional data sources that can be studied from a network perspecive when we remember that a network is any set of actors and any set of relations. We will begin to collect two datasets using publicly available data, which we will use to explore some basic features of UCINET such as data entry, visualization, and measuring centrality.
