The "BIG PICTURE" of how social network concepts fit into the larger realm of social theory making connections to popular network-based theories. It is an overview of Concepts and Core Ideas, including:
- Small world networks
- Strength of Weak Ties
- Measures of Centrality

Tuesday (Rich DeJordy and LINKS Center team)
Tuesday through Thursday are hands/on lecture labs in which we explore using UCINET and NetDraw to analyze and visualize networks.
Tuesday morning: Hands-on software tutorial and introduction to graph theory terms.
Tuesday afternoon: Handling SNA Data - Collection, Entry, & Ethics
Wednesday
Wednesday morning: Centrality (Degree, Closeness, Betweenness, Eigencvector)
Wednesday afternoon: Cohesion (Whole network, dyadic, and subgroups)
Thursday
Thursday morning: Social Capital (Brokerage, Egonet Composition, Gould & Fernandez)
Thursday afternoon: Hypotheses testing (Dyadic, Nodal/Monadic, Mixed nodal/dyadic)
