July 2024

Anna's manuscript titled "Ice Formation, Exsolution, and Multiphase Equilibria in the Methane-Ethane-Nitrogen System at Titan Surface Conditions" has been accepted in The Planetary Science Journal!

We submitted a collaborative DOE proposal with Andre Clayborne (George Mason University) and Jeremy Palmer (University of Houston) to team up with Suzie Neidhart and others and DOE sites to look at polymer structure and dynamics!

We just submitted a collaborative proposal with the Vázquez group from St. John's University to use advanced stats to understand molecular structure!

Alex did a great job giving her final REU presentation titled 'Failure to Social Distance: Exceeding Gathering Limits in Titan's Lakes'! It's been a great, productive summer!

Our NSF proposal led by PI Cindy Browder is about to be submitted to the Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer our Future program! Cindy did a great job pulling the collaboration together! I'm really excited about this project and it's prospects; let's hope the NSF panel agrees. 

Kira was selected for an LSAMP  research award to fund her work on the properties of geranic acid!

Our work in PeerJ Physical Chemistry on molten carbonate electrolytes was one of the top 5 viewed articles for 2019. This article was the third one published in the journal and there are currently six accepted articles total, but nevertheless we made the list! Check it out, if you haven't already!

I have updated to the newer google sites. Weird formatting abounds! 

I was able to present some of our recent work with ionic liquids and biological systems at the first ParslFest at the University of Chicago. I was able to show how some of our workflows are helping make Parsl more functional, catch up with some old friends, and make some new ones.

Mark Brodie at the Phoenix NPR member station KJZZ interviewed me about our research into insulin preservatives! Mark did a great job making me intelligible!

Our collaborative work let by the Koppisch group into the mode of action of the deep eutectic solvent CAGE has been accepted for publication in PLOS One

The last of my graduate work (probably) was just accepted for publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B. It's a relief to know that will be published!

Collaborator Jennifer Hanley wrote a nice article about our recent CO-N2 work for Gemini Focus

Rachel Huchmala, friend of the lab, received a NAU/NASA Space Grant to work with our collaborator Dr. Jennifer Hanley next year! 

Alex and I received our 2017 NAU RCA Awards! Rumor has it this is the first time two awards in one year have gone to the same group!

Alex won the Chemistry Department 2017 Graduate Scholar Award!

Kevin, Shy, and Lauren presented posters at UGRADS. Not to be left out, Alex and Porter judged posters, and Gerrick just went. 

Kevin was mentioned in a NAU News Spotlight for completing the 2016-2017 NAU/NASA Space Grant Undergraduate Research Internship Program and presenting his results of at the Arizona/NASA Space Grant 26th Annual Statewide Symposium.

Gerrick has won the 2017 NAU Award for Most Promising New Scholar for demonstrating the potential to contribute outstanding research and scholarship to his discipline.

Alex is competing in the Arizona 3-Minute Grad Slam (AZ3MGS)! AZ3MGS is a statewide competition for the best three minute talk about graduate student research and discovery.
