10 acre Lieben / Nielson Crown parcel located below 1390 Eaglecliff Rd(Block 1, DL 1552, Plan 4330)
Biologically, the property has significant natural values. The steepness of both the bluffs and creek ravine has been a deterrent to logging and stands of older forest remain intact. Western hemlock, Douglas-fir, shore pine, Sitka spruce and western redcedar have been recorded on the property (Source: Dunster and Associates Environmental Consultants Ltd., 2000).
Einar and Muriel Nielson donated the parcel to the Crown in 1977 on the condition that the land was to “remain in perpetuity as a Nature Reserve with controlled public use and habitat management.”
During their lifetimes, Mr. and Mrs. Nielson expressed the wish that the property be left in its natural state. It was not their wish that the property be turned into a formal park.
