STUDENT EXPECTATIONS/CLASS RULES

PARTICIPATION, COMMITMENT, MEMBER CONDUCT, & CITIZENSHIP

Dedication and commitment to being at all rehearsals, events, and performances is expected of you. It is your duty and membership privilege to perform with an ensemble. I anticipate a high level of class, respect, pride, and honor to perform together as a group. Your behavior outside of our classroom is not only a reflection of you, but also of our group as a whole. Your job as a band member is just as important as committing to your other classes. I expect that you do your best in all your school commitments - sports, clubs, classes, and activities at LHS.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

You have a very important responsibility to your section. If someone is missing from your section on a performance night, make it a point to:

(1) report the missing musician to Ms. Bugarin.

(2) call that section member, and/or

(3) find someone who does have the member’s phone number to make the call.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS - ETIQUETTE/BEHAVIOR

I have high expectations with peer interaction and behavior. Each individual is responsible for his/her actions. Disrespect and dishonesty will not be tolerated. Disciplinary Action Due to Non-compliance –See progressive discipline.

CLASSROOM COMMUNICATION - CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Be patient and let each party be heard. Yelling, cursing, disrespectful language, and hate speech will not be tolerated and may result in a referral to the VP.

CELL PHONES: Cell phones will be permitted during certain times in class. You will see a sign that says – NO CELL PHONES or CELL PHONES OK (Make good choices). If you use your cell phone during a time when cell phones are NOT permitted, they will be taken away and sent to the office. LHS Cell policy will be in effect. See CELL PHONE POLICY that’s posted.

PUNCTUALITY AND PREPAREDNESS

· Be in your seat 4 minutes past the bell with your instrument to be considered on time.

ATTENDANCE

SCHEDULE OF CONCERTS & EVENTS

PLEASE NOTE! PERFORMANCES ARE REQUIRED AS PART OF YOUR GRADE.

You will receive the Band Calendar on the 1st day of school. Please remember to take a photo of the schedule on the wall! You’ll see our performance dates – DAILY!

Band is a performing ensemble where what you do outside of the classroom in performance is made priority. You must notify me more than two weeks before a concert or event of any schedule conflicts. Failure to notify will result in a lowered grade for the performance: minus 0-50 points.

TARDY: The LHS tardy policy will be strictly enforced. Students have one week to serve a tardy after school. A student who is tardy 5 or more times will receive an unsatisfactory citizenship grade - “U.”

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Any attempt to pass off another person’s work as your own is dishonest. Examples of academic dishonesty include but are not limited to; copying from a neighbor during a test, using an electronic device to retrieve resources not permitted in a learning situation, copying homework done by a classmate, and collaborating during a test or quiz unless instructed to do so.

If you are caught cheating in any form, your grade will be a zero for the assignment, quiz, or test.

Your citizenship grade will result in a “U.”

LATE POLICY

Sine we are a performing ensemble, you are expected to show up on time to performances as part of your performance grade. Arriving late to “CALL TIME” is a 0–25-point deduction. All “late” arrivals can be determined as “excused” on a case-by-case basis.

There is NO MAKE-UP WORK FOR A MISSED CONCERT.

PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE

1. Verbal Warning

2. See me after class.
