Time to complete this step: 10 minutes
Once you think you've fished-out as much lint as you'll get, that's it - you're done!
Use your hand or a damp paper towel to clean out the upper parts of the air chamber (the black areas in the previous pictures) and be sure to wipe away any dried-on lint or accumulated detergent otherwise this stuff will find its way down into the chamber you've just spent time cleaning out.
LG warns us against using too much detergent in a wash cycle, saying that it may not all wash away during the rinse cycle and therefore the lint will be sticky and build-up inside the chamber faster than normal. I have found that since this is a half-size washer, less than a tablespoon of HE (high efficiency) detergent is needed to get even the dirtiest load clean. I've found that even half a table spoon seems to be enough to get most loads clean. The bottom line is, the less detergent you use, the less frequently you'll have to open the dryer up for de-linting.
Take a moment to clean off any dried-on lint from the underside of the blower assembly as well.
All that's left to do is reassemble the unit:
1. Carefully put the blower motor assembly back into place, making sure to slip one side under the partially-loosened screw (identified by the yellow circle in an step 4).
2. Screw the blower assembly into place. Screws should be snug but not overly tight! The plastic threads will be easy to strip if you overtighten any of the screws.
3. Make sure that none of the internal wiring will be pinched by the top plate or unit's cover. Put your work gloves back on to protect your hands from the sharp edges of the metal plate, and set the plate back into place. This part will be easier if you thread each screw only half-way. Once all nine screws are in place, go around a second time and tighten them all down.
4. Gently set the unit top cover on and slide it forward into its proper position. Check from all sides to make sure that the cover is properly aligned, and fasten the two cover screws in the back of the unit.
5. While you've got your overalls on, go ahead and take a few minutes to clean out the drain pump filter. This doesn't have anything to do with drying (that I'm aware of) but it's a good idea to check it while you're doing your spring cleaning. The instructions for doing this are in the owner's manual. If you've lost your owner's manual, it's available as a download from LG's web site.
You're finished!
