Step 3 - Remove the cover plate

Time to complete this step: 5 minutes

After removing the outer top cover, you will see a large metal plate that is secured to the unit with nine screws. The location of all nine screws is marked with a red circle in the picture below. Remove all nine screws and set them aside.

It's not necessary to remove the three screws near the front that have purple rubber "bumpers".

CAUTION: The edges of the metal plate may be sharp and can slice through human flesh like a knife through warm butter. Wear work gloves when handling this part of the unit.

Carefully remove the metal plate and set it aside.
