Step 4 - Remove the blower motor thingy

Time to complete this step: 2 minutes

After removing the metal cover plate, you will at last be able to see inside your dryer. It should look something like the picture below.

Caution - if you have just finished a drying cycle, the heating element chamber (black rectangular box in the center of the picture below) will be quite hot.

By the way - did you unplug your appliance? If not, do that now!

The next step is removing the top of the blower motor. This part is identified by the red circle below.

Below is a close-up of the blower motor assembly. Remove the five black screws identified by the red circles and set them aside. Losen the one screw identified by the yellow circle but don't remove it. It's not a big deal if you do, it's just not necessary to do so.

With all five screws removed and the sixth screw loosened, gently lift the blower assembly up, flip it over on its back and lay it on top of the rear of the appliance as shown below. Be aware that the motor's supply wire will limit how far you can move this part.

With the blower motor assembly removed, at last you can see the opening of the air circulation chamber. In the picture above, I've identified he opening with a large red circle.

If you click the picture to enlarge, you will be able to see the root cause of the problem: lots of lint choking-off the air circulation chamber.
