Battlemoor IX - Saturday, July 7 - Time 1-3pm - Display Pavilion near Artisan's Lane during the Sip and Show. Location is the same so you can do both!
Be sure to have your items to the display by 3:30pm when we'll draw for the prizes. Presentation to the Visiting Crowns will be in Grand Court. This year we are adding the option of donating a half dozen or a full dozen.
In the Principality of Tir Righ, Kingdom of An Tir, Her Ladyship Aldgudana Gunnarsdottir created the Dirty Dozen Donation Derby as a way to encourage the creation of largess through friendly competition. She was kind enough to share this idea with others. In various forms, donation derbies inspired by Aldgundana have been run in numerous groups and kingdoms. When the barony of Dragonsspine scheduled an investiture for our new Baron and Baroness in 2014, I decided to host one in the Outlands. Battlemoor VII will be the sixth derby I've hosted. So far the generosity of artists has brought more than 2600 items to the Crowns and Coronets in these derbies. Several more people have been inspired within the kingdom and in other kingdoms to create their own derbies.
Here is the basic information on the upcoming derby at Battlemoor IX.
Basic Rules
Create a Dozen (12) items (or a half dozen 6 items) that are suitable for largesse and based on a theme of your choice.
Entry is open to everyone.
All entries must be tagged and ready to be gifted the day of the competition. Consider wrapping anything that could be harmed by the dust at a camping event.
No liquids or perishables please.
No liquor or food products.
Tightly wrap all scented items to prevent cross-scenting.
No Documentation Needed.
Group and Award Heraldry is permitted but make sure to clearly identify the heraldry. No personal or household heraldry.
Package for safe transport, especially the little stuff.
Requirements
All entries must be tagged and ready to be gifted the day of the competition. Tags should include your name, your group, what the item is, and the materials (wool, cotton, etc). Please note any allergens including cats, dogs, wool, eggs, strong scents, etc.
No liquids or perishables are permitted due to the travel requirements.
No liquor or food products. We're dealing with travel and state lines. Let's not break laws or cause our Crowns to do so.
Items that are scented should be well wrapped to prevent their scents from becoming part of all items within the largess basket. We have a number of people who are very sensitive to these items and don’t want to cause issues for them.
Items do not need to be documented and no documentation is required. This isn’t an Arts and Sciences competition. It’s a way to share our skills and talents to encourage and inspire others while supporting our nobles.
Items may have group or award heraldry but please clearly indicate the group/award so appropriate destinations can be identified. Nonspecific heraldic emblems and designs are welcome. Personal and household heraldry is prohibited.
Please consider the needs of small items and package so they may be transported and presented safely.
Prizes
Every entrant receives an item from one of the dozens as a thank you/prize.
Random Draw will determine the order for choosing prizes.
The remaining 11 items from each dozen and 5 items from each half dozen will be presented to Their Majesties of the various kingdoms attending Battlemoor.
Registration is not required but if you are planning to participate drop me a note so I can be sure we have sufficient space for display. Please contact me with questions. Additional information and frequently asked questions are available on the Facebook event. Sadly Facebook has updated their permissions so that you have to be a member to read the discussions but the relevant event information is available on this website. The only thing you're missing is the cheerleading to keep folks inspired.
Additional inspiration is available on Pinterest.
Please share this with other groups/lists as appropriate. Participants from other kingdoms are welcome as well so please help spread the word.
