00:00 The DT acquisition was found blocked, therefore, run #500672 #520 was stopped.

DT acquisition recovered. Started run #500673 #523.

NOTES : We have now two spills per every 43.2 seconds, which is twice what we had this afternoon.

There are around 2E6 to 3E6 triggers in S1(positrons) and about 40 "good triggers" per spill with the current trigger config "GOLD+S1".

Around 12000 events per two hour are collected.

03:20 Rate of spills increased to two in 28.8 sec. The S1 rate is 1E6~3E6

04:00 Spill Rate reduced to one every 37 sec.

04:50 Spill rate back to two spills in 28.8 sec.

06:13 SAHV of the PMT module lost connection. The program was closed and reopened, and it seems to work normally. Acquisition WAS NOT stopped.

06:28 It was found that "Event Number"_new = "Event Number"_old + "Good Triggers" - 1. Is this an error ?

Access at 21:16 to insert the Be target.

Loading e+@45GeV configuration file. Some magnet configuration issues (we had to reset by hand the currents in 2 dipole magnets). QUAD.021.447 readout -39.3, reference -39.643.

Taking data with GOLD+S1D 489/500633. Run stopped to mask a 2 hot channels on the border of the muon chambers.

September 20-21 Thursday - Friday 23:00 - 07:00

Shift Crew

Fabio Anulli, Mattia Soldani

Shift Info

Waiting for beam...

22:30 The problem with the MBPL dipole has been solved. The crew that worked today did not opened the water cooling, so we were roasting the magnet...

00:30 the trigger with the triple coincidence counts too low. We made several tests, changing beam energies and magnet current sign. No significant changes.

1:40 problem found: the beam on command was not enable => ~1:30 hours of reasonable beam lost... :(

Note: the S1 signal is now given by the coincidence of the scintillator fingers in front to T1 and T2 (it was one of the tests we made).

All short runs taken in this hour must be discarded.

3:45 taken all runs with 22 GeV beam (trigger S1, and tripla, both field polarities).

3:50 Beam lost during last run. It will be 20 minutes with no beam.

Move to 26 GeV when beam will be back

5:30 No beam for another hour at least

September 20 Thursday 15:00 - 23:00

Completing installation. Beams expected soon.

Plan: take data with muons at different energies for muon chambers and calo's calibration until tomorrow morning. Then switch to e+/e- for tracking alignment.

Energies requested for the muon beams: 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 32 GeV

Shift Info

14:50 There is a problem with transmission of event ID to the muon chamber. Erik is working on that.

Check for safety clearance will happen around 3:00pm.

Then, we'll close and patrol the area and move to "controlled access".

August 18 Saturday 07:00 - 15:00

Shift Crew

F. Collamati, M. Soldani

Shift Plan

After positioning of the Be target, 45 GeV Physics runs!

Shift Info

The shift started right after the first positioning of the Be target, after which there was a problem with the beam. The 45GeV beam file was corrupted, a manual fix was attempted in the night but leading to a strange beam (low intensity, low Y positioning).

8h30: Tried to reach a better alignment for T1 S1 T2, before knowing it was fake beams' fault.

10h50 Solved problem with optics file for positrons at 45 GeV, spill now has about 1e6 events per spill

11h20: New alignment of T1 S1 and T2 for 45 GeV beam (see above). New positioning of target on proper holding structure, "definitive"

13h50: Started new beam, but stopped since in chamber acquisiton there is a bit that is always on, thus saturating the acq

August 18 Saturday 15:00 - 23:00

Shift Crew

F. Anulli, C. Curatolo

Shift Plan

data taking

Shift Info

12:30 decided to change trigger inserting a large scintillator paddle behind the iron shielding on the Jura (negative tracks) side. The exact location is between the two muon chamber planes on that side.

The idea is to reduce the trigger rate to minimize the data acquisition deadtime. The trigger wil be given by the coincidence: S1*JURA*SALEVE*PALA (where PALA is the new scintillator).

To estimate the incident beam flux, an additional trigger line with the prescaled S1 signal will also be added.

Waiting for people to fix the silicon run number bits.

taking data with silicon only to study trigger rate

trigger S1*JURA*SALEVE

15:30 --> run 500362 stopped, silicon people working on new trigger

15:30 work to prepare the new trigger is ongoing

18:00 the new trigger is in time.

The presacle factor for S1 is 32768

19:00 start physics run number 500370 trigger S1*JURA*SALEVE*PALA+S1D (4 scintillator AND with S1prescaled in OR, that means: if there's 4 scintillators in AND we take it otherwise we take S1 prescaled)

22:30 stop run 56109 events

22:58 start run 312
