Fr Christopher writes: IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BECOMING A CATHOLIC OR WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH: Our Parishes RCIA Course begins Monday 14th September 2026 at 7:30 pm in the Assumption Church Hall. This will be an initial meeting to discuss the outline and format of the course for those who are looking to be Received into the Church next Easter. All welcome. Thinking of Coming Back to Mass?

If you’ve been away from the Church for a while, coming back to Mass can feel like a big step—and that’s okay. Whether it’s been months or years, you’re not alone. Many people return to Mass gradually, sometimes tentatively, and often with mixed emotions. You might find comfort in familiar prayers and rituals, or notice that some things have changed. Whatever your experience, we want you to know: you are always welcome here.

A Few Helpful Tips

• It’s okay not to know everything. Just follow along as best you can. Most people are happy to help if you’re unsure what to do.

• Communion is optional. If you’re not ready to receive, or haven’t been to Confession recently, you’re welcome to stay seated. Or, if you prefer, come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing.

• Arrive a little early. This gives you time to choose a seat, settle in, and take a moment to breathe before Mass begins.

• Bring someone with you. If you’re feeling nervous, consider asking a friend or family member to come along for support.

You Are Not Alone

The Church is a place of welcome, healing, and belonging. Every step you take toward reconnecting with your faith is deeply valued. Be patient with yourself as you reacquaint yourself with the rhythm of the liturgy. Others around you have likely felt the same way—and many have found great peace in returning.

RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Primarily intended to support adults thinking of joining the Church, this course is also open to practising Catholics who would enjoy learning more about their faith in this way.

During a course of friendly sessions, we discuss all aspects of our faith and share how God has helped us on our own individual journeys. 

For some, this course may lead to full membership of the Catholic Church through the Sacraments. For others, it may just be a step along the way. This course will provide something new for everyone to think about. Come and join us.

RCIC - Rite of Christian Initiation of Children 

RCIC is open to all children between the ages of 8-15, unbaptized or baptized. These classes are designed to educate children in the Catholic faith and prepare them for the sacraments to be received at the Easter Vigil. Whether your family is just entering the Church, returning to the practice of the Catholic faith, or delayed your child’s sacramental preparation, all are welcome.
