Our Mission

To increase interest in, and raise the standards of genealogical research and compilation by means of educational programs, workshops, and the publication of genealogical data.


To encourage, aid, and instruct members in the art and practice of genealogical research and compilation.


To acquaint members with sources of genealogical material in Lower Delmarva, and the State and National Archives. 


To serve, through its meetings, publications, and otherwise as a medium of exchange of genealogical information.


To promote the collection, preservation, and utilization of manuscripts, documents, and other materials of genealogical value.


To encourage the preservation of Lower Delmarva public and family historical records.


Membership

Dues are $20.00 per calendar year for an Individual or Family. Lifetime Memberships are available for $300.00.

LDGS Members receive a Newsletter twice a year.  This newsletter contains articles, fun facts and local items of interest. Past copies of the Newsletter are available for purchase.  Newsletters are sold in 10-issue volumes.

Surname Index*

This file is available at the Reference Library. Searches made on request accompanied by a SASE.  To enter a Surname to the index, please submit a 3 x 5 card (one surname per card).  Show Surname, location, dates, your name, address and email.

Meetings

There are 6 meetings during the year that are open to the public.  Meetings are now on the 3rd Wednesday of March, April, May, September, October and November.The meetings begin at 2:00pm and are held locally, often in historic locations.

Please note: Some Meetings may be held on other days.

Congratulations to Member Janet Dise!

Janet has just published her first book, In Search of St. Anthony's Town. The book is an historical look at Shad Point on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and contains records and personal accounts of the area.
