Rich Holiday Eggnog

This recipe came my way in the 1980s. It was my old roommate John's mother's recipe. It's do decadent!

I made it for our holiday party one year and kept it in a stockpot outside to stay cold for guests to serve themselves. I forgot about it until springtime and it was covered in "fur". And, I told that story in my intro when I was a contestant on the "Trivia Unwrapped" game show that I was on in 2003 and won (Season 1, Episode 16).

12 eggs separated

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 quart milk

1 quart high quality vanilla ice cream, softened

Some? whisky or rum

In medium bowl, beat egg yolks with blender until light. Add 3/4 cup sugar and beat in.

In separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.  Beat in 1/2 cup sugar.

In large bowl, mix milk with ice cream until blended. Add yolk mixture and blend gently. Slowly stir in liquor until blended. Carefully fold in egg whites then serve.
