The Board of Directors has worked for three years with Martha Graham, with the New Mexico Rural Water Association (NMRWA), to develop a plan to protect our watershed from what they consider to be the threats to our infrastructure, and to Association members' clean water. The Final SWPP is located below along with a List of Appendices, Appendix contents and Table 6 PSOCs. The plan was presented to Association members at their recent membership meeting on April 22, 2017.
The plan will be presented again when the USFS, Cuba Ranger District, holds a meeting to discuss their plans to continue thinning of the forest in the La Jara Watershed. The meeting will take place on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 9 AM at the La Jara Fire Station located on County Road 496. The Ranger District has sent out a notice seeking comments on the La Jara Phase III Project.
"A truly effective watershed management effort should be driven largely by citizen concerns about local problems, and guided by sound data and information provided by federal, state and local governments in order to assume substantial rights and responsibilities for watershed management."
