Lesson Plan on Visualizing Geometry
-Based on Video
-Based on Video
1. Set up proprtions and look for missing sides on similar figures
--> Instead of students having to visualize rotating shapes in their mind, use tracing paper that studetns can trace the shape onto and then use to rotate and flip around on their desk when comparing it to the original orientation of the shape.
2. Construct 3D figures from 2D views using manipulatives
--> Use blocks as manipulatives and have the students build the images shown on the whiteboard themselves.
3. Create cross section views from 3D objects
--> Create shapes like prisms, cylinders, or cubes with play dough and then literally cut the shapes into their cross section and have the students raise their hand and share what shapes result when we cut the 3D objects into their cross sections.
