Welcome to my personal webpage!

I am Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Exeter, and Director of the Tax Administration Research Centre (TARC), an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Research Centre. 

I serve as Managing Editor for the Journal of Tax Administration (JOTA), Associate Editor of FinanzArchiv/Public Finance Analysis, and I am a co-founder of Trade and Economic Development Network (InsTED Network).  I am also research fellow of CESIfo,

My research interests lie in the areas of public economics, environmental economics, political economics, and international trade. In particular, I am currently involved in a number of theory- and policy-oriented projects investigating, among other topics: optimal audit policies in dynamic economies with tax evasion; VAT thresholds; how to identify fraudulent behaviour in economic networks (and particularly VAT networks); the role of tax audits in compliance of natural persons and legal entities; and the role of border tax adjustments as instruments to mitigate climate change. 

Since 2017, I have also served as Chairman of the Management Board of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue of the Hellenic Republic (IAPR).
