Home remedies for Migraines
In addition to prescription medication and over-the-counter NSAIDs (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.):
Eat salty foods (e.g. an entire bag of pretzels)
Drink caffeine
Head/face/neck/shoulder massage
Lie down
Hot or cold pack over face/head/neck (for most people a cold pack works better)
Dark room
Clear sinuses (allergy meds, blow nose, humidifier, neti pot)
Aromatherapy (really works-- I usually add a few drops of essential oils to my hot pack)-- Rosemary and Lavender are best for migraines, Peppermint and Eucalyptus for sinuses.
Hot shower (though sometimes it takes a lot to convince me to get up, but the shower almost always helps)
