Short Bio.

Prof. Dr. Dongjun Suh is currently Department Chair and associate professor of Department of Convergence & Fusion System Engineering, Department of Smart Plant Engineering and Head of Innovative Education and Research Center for Global New Energy Industry with Climate Change (4단계 BK21 사업단장, 기후변화대응 글로벌에너지신산업 지역혁신인재양성 교육연구단), Kyungpook National University (KNU) in South Korea where he joined in Spring 2018. He received Ph.D. degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Construction-ICT convergence track) in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). From 2015 to 2018, he was a senior researcher at Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), and he led a research team for Disaster Risk Analysis for high-rise buildings regarding various disaster events such as earthquakes, fire, and floods. (PI of Disaster Project, MDCO Convergence Research Center, 9.8 billion KRW($8,746,000), Dec. 2016 – Nov. 2019). (Disaster Project, MDCO Convergence Research Center, Dec. 2016 – Nov. 2019). From 2017 to 2018, he was an Associate Professor, Dept. of S&T Information Science, University of Science & Technology (UST), and from 2014 to 2015, he was a research assistant professor at KAIST Institute for Information Technology Convergence. From 2007 to 2010, he was a software engineer at HUMAX.

His current research is centered on big data and smart control systems, employing predictive analytics that integrate a diverse range of statistical techniques, including modeling, machine learning, and AI-based problem-solving. His work extends to large-scale infrastructures such as plant engineering systems, cities, factories, buildings, farms, and various facilities. With substantial expertise in ICT-based building science, smart/microgrid technology, energy systems, and AI convergence technology, he has made significant contributions to the field of Smart cities. Additionally, he has authored numerous scientific papers in refereed journals and has presented at various international conferences, covering both scientific and technical domains.
