Salvaged Greek Bowl

24 March 2024

The original drawings for the bowl were made in October 2021 and are based on a fourth century BCE Greek mixing bowl that resides in the British Museum.  I liked the shape and so I copied it.

It went through several iterations because I could not make my mind up about the pattern ring or the lattice rings, and it finally saw the light of day in September 2022.  I hated it from the moment it was finished, and in truth I should have seen that coming.

It was consigned to my wood rack as a reminder of what happens when I unthinkingly plod on with what is certain to become junk.  It did that job well for more than a year before I finally decided what to do with it, and the result is much more like what I originally had in mind.  Whether I like it or not I have yet to decide.
