SCUBA Diving

Karalyn is a PADI Divemaster, Discover SCUBA Diving (DSD) Leader and Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor. She spent her summers in her backyard pool in a land-locked part of Central California, so her love for the ocean was a long-distance relationship until moving to Los Angeles in 1999. After years of teaching about marine ecosystems, she finally experienced the beauty of California’s kelp forests first-hand while earning her PADI Open Water certification with Malibu Divers. Having caught the bug for diving, over the next year, Karalyn earned her PADI Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster DSD Leader and EFR Instructor certifications. Being a Divemaster allows her to combine her passion for diving with her training and talents as a scientist and teacher.
