Our evening meetings are a slightly more formal affair than our day meetings and include a show and tell of work by members and wonderful speakers or demonstrations. Our meetings start with a cup of tea so members can meet and greet. Our wonderful library is also on display for members to borrow and return books. Be in to win one of our three raffles - $2 for 3 tickets.

Think Tank - We Want Your Ideas
This Thursday we are doing something different.
Michelle is going to lead us in a Think Tank. This exercise is to engage club members to get their feedback on the value they get from membership and what classes and speakers they would like to see in future. So please come along and share your ideas on what you would like your club to do.
There will be another session at the Tuesday Group in November.
Fun with Fabric and Friends- Maree Luckman
Maree has been quilting since 1984 and will show, and share the stories of, some of her favourite quilts. She will fill you in on where they were made and who helped, because none of her quilts is an entirely "sole effort". There is one quilt inner made by "Grandma Holdaway" in the 1960's - made with old woollen clothes - very old fashioned, and heavy.
Over the years Maree has been in quilt groups in California, Palmerston North, Auckland and finally here. Each place has brought new inspiration, and lasting friendships.
Speaker Bernie McKendry from Fibre Flair
Bernie will talk about her philosophy of why she has come back to crafting, Bernina and fostering foundation skills. The technology age has disrupted the bonds created through family and community by passing down heritage skills. Mindfulness of crafting, creativity and intergenerational social connection is as important for us as it was our grandparents.
Philippa Doyle has been stitching for over 50 years and making quilts for almost as long. She is a past President of Wellington Quilters and has been involved with the last two Quilt Symposiums held in Wellington. She has recently returned from a textile tour to India and will be telling us about the magic she encountered there and will show us some of her textiles that she brought home.
