History

Overview

Formerly known as the North Dallas Youth Communication Club (NDYCC), JLTM Toastmasters DFW was founded in 1995 by Jie-Lin Xu, the President of Chinese Institute of Engineers, in a Plano, Texas church. It moved to Legacy Bank in 2001 during the sponsorship by Jassy Chang. The registered members reached its peak at 60 members, with more than 10 people on the waiting list. Many members benefitted greatly from the club through practice of the speech and leadership skills. Quite a few students went to Ivy League universities, like Harvard and MIT. The key contributors to the club over the years were Lie-Lin Xu, Xiao-Feng Lei, Jassy Chang, Joe Lee and January Tsai.

In November 2008, the club voted and changed its name to JLTM (Just Listen To Me) and became a registered club under Toastmasters International. The club counselor was (and still is) Anthony Kung (DTM) and the parent sponsor was led by January Tsai.

On 5/22/2009, the JLTM club conducted its first election and four youth officers were elected by the member themselves; Alex Zhang became the first youth president.
